Green Christ ImageOur precious planet—the Green World that sustains us—needs salvation now more than ever, and so do we. Many of us deeply feel the sacredness of the natural world, and our own capacity to participate in and enliven that sacredness. Indeed, we know that we must do so, in order to be whole and fulfilled.

The being who calls himself the Green Christ offers us a radiant path of personal realization and joyful, creative connection with nature’s richness—a richness that is a reflection of our own deepest nature. By inspiring and challenging us to remember ourselves as part of the Sacred Land, the Green Christ brings redemption to the entire living world of Gaia—which inevitably includes humanity as well as the forests, creatures, air and water that sustain us and each other.

Synergizing aspects of Christianity and Paganism, of ancestral knowledge and modern eco-theology, the Green Christ embodies a generous living force arising from the very depths of our beautiful planet. I first met him 30 years ago in the green hills of Avalon (now Glastonbury, England), where even today an ancient, mythic Christ force flows in harmony with the sacred land and waters. Now the Green Christ is emerging in my life to transmit vital, universal teachings for everyone who loves our earth.

When we root his altar in the sacred land, the Green Christ joins us there. This blog is dedicated to sharing his heart-full green love and the essential redemption he brings us all.

What is Green Redemption?

green redemptionThe Green Christ can heal and redeem humanity’s greatest and most damaging split—the belief that we humans are not part of Nature, not part of Gaia, but are instead separate and superior. All of our misdeeds—our so-called sins—flow from this tragic misconception.

The ancestors of everyone now alive knew themselves as participants in Nature’s web, giving and receiving in balance with the sacred land and all creation. The vast majority of humanity, of every religion and culture, has forgotten this expansive, whole self.

By initiating us into a larger, Gaia-centered sense of ourselves, the Green Christ can weave Nature’s precious web—humans included—into a future of true abundance and life-enhancing regeneration for all of the earth’s inhabitants.

What Would the Green Christ Do?

Jesus of Nazareth famously advised us to love our neighbor as ourselves. The obvious question that follows is: Who is my neighbor? The people who literally live next door? Those in my family, or in my town? Those of only my own race, or all races? Just straight people, or gay and trans people too? Those who call themselves Christians, or people of any religion? Or could this renowned advice possibly apply to every human being in the … [Read More...] about What Would the Green Christ Do?

Heart Work: Making the Heart a Green Cross

The Green Christ has told me more than once that his True Cross is a living, shining green tree: A strong, deeply rooted tree whose branches gracefully grow out at all angles, intertwining with and supporting one another, “housing mosses, ferns and lichens, and the nests of birds and the secret trails of spiders; and housing vast colonies of Nature’s beings, both spiritual and material.” (Message, January 4, 2019) So we can begin with this … [Read More...] about Heart Work: Making the Heart a Green Cross

I am a sacramental ceremonialist on behalf of Gaia

I’ve known my entire life that the land and all its creatures and places are not only alive, intelligent and beautiful, but are an essential part of who I am. And I’ve always completely accepted and diligently explored the notion that there are other planes of existence beyond the purely material, and that they are inhabited by a host of beings—many of whom are ready and able to awaken and guide humanity. It is for these two reasons, I believe, that the being who calls himself the Green Christ has begun to reveal himself to me.

I grew up roaming the wilds of northern New Mexico, and later lived at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains in rural Virginia. I spent 10 years studying and doing ceremony with Native American teachers, and then began exploring the nature-based Celtic spirituality of my own British ancestors. I also worked extensively with sacred plant teachers, primarily ayahuasca, for more than 20 years. My interests these days have returned to the Celtic and Western Mysteries, even as I’ve returned to live in the enchanted terrain of New Mexico.

My relationship with the Green Christ began in Avalon (Glastonbury, England) in the early 1990s. I’m not a scholar or a theologian, and am even reluctant to call myself a Christian! Most of what I’ve learned about the Green Christ, and the earth-connected spiritual world in general, comes from my personal experience in following a deeply committed, nature-centered path all my life.
